We seem to have already said and heard everything about choosing someone to spend the rest of our life with, as a wife or husband, in a successful marriage, where many spiritual children (souls) are born. But, unfortunately, we see many lose their Salvation because they have made a bad decision when it came to choosing a spouse.
When a young man is spiritual, he notices the young woman’s beauty, but does not allow himself to get carried away by it. The same happens when a young woman is spiritual. She notices that the young man is handsome, yet she focuses on the vision of God:
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16.7
Beauty is relative because it ends once you get a taste of it. In the beginning, everything is new, the first experiences are unforgettable, but then, that’s it, it’s done and life goes on. Sex will basically become a routine, and then what? Who lives in that beautiful body, God or the devil?
But those who think and see with the eyes of God do not focus on the exterior or solely on sex; instead, they focus on what’s inside of their wife or husband, which is what remains after the honeymoon period.
When the wife is born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit, then she becomes the husband’s helper in winning souls. She will be behind the scenes, helping in his ministry, in times of deserts, persecutions and battles that a man of God usually faces throughout his journey. But, if the presence of the devil is in her, she will be a stumbling block. I would even compare it to a “stroke” in the life of a man of God, because the after affects of a stroke leaves the person having to walk pulling one leg and one arm is paralyzed (dead) and can no longer participate according with the rest of the body. Therefore, he can never overcome hell in a fierce battle to remove souls from the clutches of evil.
We see this in the lives of many who, after getting married, became paralyzed in their ministry because they discovered that their other half (wife) was spiritually dead, and now they have to drag them around, which becomes such a burden because they’re not able to be as exponent as they were in God’s hands before they were married.
…I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Revelation 3.1
This has also happened to women who were a blessing in God’s hands when they were an assistant and single, but the same happened when they married someone they thought was from above, but was actually from below.
And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world”. John 8.23
We should learn that, when choosing someone to marry, outer beauty is relative. After all, what is beautiful to one person is not for another, but inner beauty is beautiful for everyone.
Observe, when external beauty leads to a sexual relationship between two people that are exceedingly beautiful, the least that can happen is they’ll have good-looking children. But inner beauty comes from the Holy Spirit Himself, and immediately there is a new “being” that brings forth the appearance of God himself in the person’s interior.
What is more important? The sculptural body of a woman, which leads to a sexual relationship, or the perfect and new “being” in someone’s interior, which is led by the Holy Spirit for His Eternal Glory?
All of these teachings are given to us by the Holy Spirit, through Bishop Macedo, so that we may LEARN.
