Out of all the trees in the garden of Eden, two of them stood out: The tree of knowledge of good and evil and the Tree of Life. One brought death to whoever ate its fruit, and the other offered eternal life. As we know, the first was so man could serve and worship God out of love and free will, and not as an obligation. It was a test to see if man would manifest the free will given to him by the Most High. The Tree of Life showed the Creator’s desire for man, who was made in His image and likeness, not to be subject to death, which came into existence because of sin.
When man sinned, God drove him out of the garden and placed cherubim to guard the way to the tree of life, so that man would not eat its fruit and live forever, Genesis 3.22-24.
Man’s greatest fear is knowing that one day he will die, this is why Satan said to God that man will give up everything he has to save his life. Scientists are searching for a treatment to increase longevity. Since ancient times, men have always sought immortality. Everyone dreams and wants to live forever.
While science battles to find the secret of immortality, the Lord Jesus has already revealed the formula for those who want to live forever!
He said: This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever. John 6.58
This means that when the Lord Jesus offered His Flesh and Blood, He gave us the sustenance that grants eternal life. This is the only way for man to live forever. This is very glorious, because man lost access to the Tree of Life that was in the garden, however, our Lord allows those who believe in Him to receive their sustenance from Him and have the right to eternity.
