Let him hear what the Spirit says to the Christians:
Put on the whole Armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the whole Armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6.11-13
God the Father knew the need for His Son to be coated with His Armor to fulfill His mission. And He did this through His baptism in the Jordan River.
Like God the Father, God the Son also knew the need for the disciples to be coated with His Armor in order to fulfill their mission in the preaching of His Word. And He did this on the Day of Pentecost.
Since then, all the true followers of the Lord Jesus have clothed themselves with the WHOLE Armor of God to win all the battles they would face against hell. After all, they were delivered from Satan’s dominion and knew that he would try to use hell to remove them from the Kingdom of God back into the kingdom of darkness.
At that time, the disciples strove with all their might to be clothed with the WHOLE Armor of God – the Holy Spirit. Main objective: stand firm against the devil’s schemes.
It is God who orders: Put on My whole Armor.
To put on means to cover up. God the Father wants all His children to cover themselves with His WHOLE Armor. This is not a suggestion, it’s an order. Put on the WHOLE Armor of God.
Why is it our responsibility and not His to put the Armor on, since the WHOLE Armor is His and, following the natural order of things, only He has the authority to cover us?
Later on, He again insists with His order: take up the whole Armor of God. To take up means to take hold of someone or something. The Holy Spirit confirms His command and orders us to take up His WHOLE Armor.
Again, comes the question: Why does the Holy Spirit tell us to take up Something that is His?
These questions have the same answer. For a disciple to be coated and take up the WHOLE Armor of God, he has to manifest his faith. Faith accompanied by sacrifice. A sacrifice that proves 100% of his will to want and take possession of This promise.
The sacrifice of faith shows his will.
I doubt the Armor of God will fall from the sky like rain!
I doubt that God will cover a person with His WHOLE Armor just because he says he’s Christian and is a faithful Churchgoer or something like that!
No! A thousand times, no!
All of God’s Promises are subject to conditions.
Read chapter of Deuteronomy 28, in which God conditions His blessings to the sacrifice of obedience.
Meditate in this text:
The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. 2 Chronicles 15.2
There is no way, no one can impose his or her own rules to what the Lord has determined.
Tomorrow I will continue with this message.
