Over 840,000 people were affected by tropical storm ‘Fung-Wong’, which reached the northern Philippines with 60 mph winds and gusts up to 75 mph.
Approximately 200,000 Filipinos had to leave their homes and take shelter in one of the country’s 400 evacuation centers.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, more than 1,800 people had to cancel their flights. In addition, 75 roads, 3 bridges and hundreds of schools and government offices were closed.
The waters have receded, but the damage remained.
Amid the chaos, the Universal Church has been providing emergency assistance to those who lost practically everything in the storm. Pastors and members came together, not only in prayer but also in action, to bring food donations to those who are living at the shelters.
The Universal Church’s volunteers also provide spiritual help. With words of faith and encouragement, they pray that these people find the strength to rebuild their lives.
