Worst enemy: the devil or pride?

And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. Matthew 15.22-28

Two things caught my attention in this text:

This woman was Greek (people who, considering their culture and intelligence, were naturally proud and arrogant) and asked the Lord Jesus to expel the demon, instead of asking for therapy, treatment or advice – which are nothing more than vain ideologies and are ineffective when the problem is spiritual. She faced the fact: she had demons!

She was able to obtain her daughter’s deliverance that same day. Why was that?

Because no one overcomes the devil without first overcoming themselves, without first overcoming their pride!

PRIDE is what stands between a being that is empty and being that is full of evil spirits! HUMBLENESS is what stands between a being that is full of evil spirits and a being that is completely delivered!

It was easy for this mother to obtain an answer from the Lord Jesus, because she had already overcome her pride prior to coming before Him. Unfortunately, we are unable to help so many people nowadays, because they may even accept to face satan, but refuse to face themselves.

God bless you greatly!
