It’s easy to find dysfunctional families and we were no different.
We were taught how to behave in public and not to air our dirty laundry, but behind closed doors, we had deep-rooted problems. Between us, you’d find fits of anger, temper tantrums, and suicidal thoughts (one of us even drank bleach and pills on one occasion).
Making a Chain of Prayer at the UCKG challenged us to vomit all pain and sadness and be true to ourselves. We soon realized our need to change and to seek help from a higher source of power – God Himself. It was clearly what we needed because, after 17 years of attending, we have learned to love each other. We may be sisters by chance, but we’re definitely best friends by choice.
