The devil knows that he doesn’t have to remove a person from the church to remove him from the presence of God. It’s enough to convince him that any and all efforts to win salvation by faith (not given) are unnecessary. Phrases like “once saved always saved” and “we’re living in an age of grace” are affirmed as if every type of filth and evil were allowed during this period of time.
In this way, many who have already decided to walk the path of what is right, holy, and separated from evil, begin to relax in their spirituality. They end up returning to a lost state, to the world of sin, tossing their soul back into hell — all without leaving the church!
But what weapon does the devil choose for this work? The accursed argument of “salvation comes by way of God’s grace”, promoted by some preachers who live in sin and seek to pacify their heavy consciences by creating other backsliding believers like them.
The devil has subtly introduced into the Christian community the idea that we are under grace and not the Law, that any thought of faith from the Old Testament has been declared invalid by the “grace” of Jesus, that any sacrifice by faith is of no use because of the “grace” of God, and that as a consequence of the “grace of God” there is no need to “abuse” ourselves in order to find salvation.
In other words, Pharisees, hypocritical Christian Sadducees forget the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:12, 16:26, and other places in the Bible, and base their faith on the effortless doctrine of salvation by grace — of salvation devoid of any personal sacrifice, devoid of any and all denial of the flesh.
How can we avoid falling?
We cannot mix wines. We cannot listen to the serpent. We cannot allow ourselves to be distracted with other messages.
To be honest with you, if there is no Universal radio or TV program, and I have to choose between a religious program from another source and sports, I prefer sports, or to simply turn off the radio or TV. I do this to bulletproof the greatest gift of God — my faith and salvation!
Read the following passage and be on guard!
“For certain men have secretly slipped in among you — men who long ago were marked out for the condemnation I am about to describe — ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into a license for evil and who deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:4
