There are at least two kinds of sorrow that have affected man: worldly sorrow and godly sorrow. Worldly sorrow is caused by the problems of this world, such as: family, health, financial, love life, unemployment, etc., and has devoured many lives through spiritual or physical death. The sorrow of the world produces death (2 Corinthians 7.10), but godly sorrow, because it comes from the Holy Spirit, produces the repentance that leads to the joy of Salvation.
In short, worldly sorrow is mortal because it comes from this world; godly sorrow produces eternal life because it comes from the Spirit of God.
As the Lord Jesus taught, godly sorrow gives pleasure to the worldly who mock the sincere of faith. But, precisely because of this, He guarantees that the same sorrow will turn to eternal joy, and no one will be able to remove it. (John 16.20)
Therefore, do not feel defeated because of worldly sorrows. React; turn your lemon into lemonade. True joy is reserved for the sorrowful. If your sorrow is worldly and you do not want to end up dying because of it, determine to exchange it for godly sorrow right now.
Pour out all your sorrows onto the Altar of the Most High and the Lord of Joy will fill you with a happiness that no one can take from you.
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to Salvation… but the sorrow of the world produces death. 2 Corinthians 7.10
