Though I speak…
In 1 Corinthians 13.1-8, the Holy Spirit reveals the enormous difference between BEING and DOING; between having His CHARACTER and REALIZING His Gifts.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal…
Speaking with the tongues of men and even of angels refers to the use of GIFTS. However, when there is no love (FRUIT or CHARACTER), it means the person was not baptized with the Holy Spirit;
“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing…”
This is, I have the gift of prophecy, I understand all the mysteries, I have all knowledge and I have faith move mountains… If I do not have the FRUIT (character) of the Spirit, then I do not have the Seal of God;
“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing…”
This means that all charity made to the poor or even be burnt by them; still, does not mean the person was baptized with the Holy Spirit;
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away…” 1 Corinthians 13.1-8
The gifts and fruit are of the Holy Spirit. But Satan has copied the gifts of God and worked miracles to, if possible, deceive the elect (Mark 13.20-22). However, he can never imitate the FRUIT of the Spirit because it is built upon goodness, righteousness and truth – Ephesians 5.9.
This means that all those who are baptized with the Holy Spirit have His character and are able to manifest His gifts. But not all who manifest the gifts have the Spirit of God.
As the father of lies, the devil uses deception and tricks to destroy the unwary with his fantasies. He knows which people can easily be deceived. This is why he works with the illusionism of magic to delight and deceive children and adults. He stimulates visions of extraterrestrials to deceive his children. Do you think it would hard for him to speak with the tongues of men and imitate the tongues of angels? Would it be difficult to prophesy, to know the mysteries and knowledge of man? Or use his children to work “wonders” among those who live in the flesh? Or to use “charitable” people to burn to death for the poor?
