Why not Today?
Every time I need to go to the mall to buy something, which I hate doing, the worst thing that can happen, besides the mall being overcrowded, is hearing the salesperson say the item I want is not in stock; in other words, I’ll need to pay and wait at home to receive my merchandise.
I hate it! And I’m sure that I’m not the only one who feels this way!
We live in an ‘instant’ society. We want everything for “today”; and in some cases, if possible, for “yesterday”.
However, when it comes to the things of the Spirit, many have not bothered to wait.
Many have been in churches for several years (including the Universal Church), yet they still do not know God and have not been sealed with the Spirit of the Most High.
And why is this?
Because they do not care if they leave a meeting, or participate in a Fast of Daniel (like the one we just started) without taking “home” what they came looking for.
When Jesus gave Zacchaeus the opportunity to change his life, He used the word “today” twice.
And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for TODAY I must stay at your house”. Luke 19.5
Zacchaeus came down immediately. He did not waste any time. He did not ask Jesus to reschedule for another day so he could spruce up his house, buy food, etc.
He took immediate action and came down the tree hastily to receive Jesus with joy.
At home, while in the presence of the Lord Jesus, he did not wait for someone to tell him what to do, because the Holy Spirit Himself spoke to his consciousness.
What did Zacchaeus do?
Again, he acted immediately. He could not and did not want to lose the great opportunity that was being given.
Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold”. Luke 19.8
Right there, in front of everyone, he acknowledge his sins and mistakes, and took hold of the opportunity to receive the greatest of all blessings: the Salvation of the soul.
And Jesus said to him, “TODAY salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost”. Lucas 19.9-10
Jesus does not want to wait to baptize you with the Holy Spirit. He does not want to wait to save you.
He wants you TODAY!
The question that remains in the air is: Are you willing to leave your life of sins, sorrows and pleasures of this filthy world TODAY?
Jesus is (in the person of the Holy Spirit) in this exact moment, inside your home, just as He was in Zacchaeus’ house.
Certainly, what He wants to say is: – TODAY he/she was baptized with My Spirit.
It all depends on you.
