How many events have caused confusion and disappointment and that, in our eyes, have been baffling?
Diseases, accidents, deaths, destruction, stray bullets, and so on…
We expected to see good, but saw evil.
We expected peace, but had to go to war.
We expected life, but were faced with death.
When this happens, it’s normal for a person to blame a lot of things or people, and there are even cases where God Himself gets held responsible.
The Lord Jesus said:
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12.37
Many are being condemned to the misfortunes of this life, simply because of their own words.
These words are, often, against someone who is under God’s favor. Therefore, it is truly impossible to expect good, peace and life.
God promised Abraham (His friend) that He would be in his favor:
I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you… Genesis 12.3
It’s no use to just not do what is against God, you must also not speak against those who are under His favor and, for this reason, are His friends.
The friends of God are all those who obey His Word.
You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. John 15.14
It’s one thing to have the devil as an enemy and opponent, it’s another to have, because of words uttered against someone who is a friend of God, the Lord as an enemy and opponent.
But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. Exodus 23.22
It is better to think, rethink and think again before speaking against someone.
Imagine if that person is a friend of God…
